Members and regular attenders can have several ways in which to make their gifts to the ongoing ministry of the church. Guests and those who are not yet followers of Jesus should understand that we don’t expect you to contribute. The Scriptures make it clear that giving is and act of worship by God’s people and as such should be both cheerful and sacrificial.
Offering boxes are located at the exits to the Worship Center for those who find that most convenient or wish to emphasize in their own lives the tie between giving and worship. We do not pass plates during worship services for the collection (other than once monthly for our Benevolent fund).
Mail donations to the church office at 15815 SE 37th Street, Bellevue, WA 98006. Mark your envelope “accounting”. Please note that for tax purposes any donations mailed must be postmarked no later than December 31, 2009, to be considered deductible for 2009 taxes.
Drop off gifts at the receptionist desk or the accounting office during the week.
Bill payer or other bank check systems. Most banks have some form of online bill paying – often free! You can usually set up recurring payments from any of your active accounts. In most cases there is a short lead time required to set up new payees, but Crossroads Bible Church is already listed at some (for example, Bank of America and Boeing Credit Union). Another feature is that this process can, in many cases, be initiated from within Quicken or Microsoft Money software. Please note that there is a delay from the time you initiate the payment to the date the check is actually mailed to the church – which might be important for any year-end tax considerations.
Online giving via PayPal is a new option we have added for convenience. This is a very secure and safe method of donating to Crossroads and can be used whether you choose to open a PayPal account or not. You can donate using debit cards, credit cards, or if you have a PayPal account you can enable direct withdrawal from your bank account. Like most online transactions there is a fee of 2½ - 3% charged to the church for each transaction. We strongly encourage you to refrain from using the credit card options unless you are in the habit of paying your charges completely each billing cycle. We discourage using debt to donate to Crossroads.
Donations of Stock allow for maximum stewardship for some individuals.
Gifts of stock held more than one year offer two unique advantages: 1) A gift of stock to the church avoids capital gains tax for you on the increase in the value of the stock; 2) You receive a deduction for the full market value of the stock at the time of the gift to the church. Check with your qualified tax advisor for specifics related to your personal situation.Contact the accounting office (425.747.6750) for more information.
To donate stock have your broker transfer it electronically to the church E*Trade account. All the information you need to accomplish this transaction is on this form.
Donations of actual stock certificate, though more complicated, can be accommodated. Please contact the accounting office directly for assistance.
Because of the many gifts of this type the church receives, it is necessary that you notify the accounting office (425.747.6750, or John Reid) to identify your donation, and give instructions on its use.
