 Senior Pastor

Dr. Jerry W. Mitchell has served as senior pastor at Crossroads Bible Church since the fall of 1980. He and his wife, Jan, moved their young family up from southern California where Jerry had served as an associate pastor under Dr. John MacArthur at Grace Community Church since 1970.

Jerry began his ministry career shortly after coming to Christ while working with the Navigators overseas in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He pursued full-time ministry at Grace Community Church and earned his bachelor's degree in Bible from Biola College. He continued his Biblical education and training at Talbot Seminary in Southern California, obtaining his masters degree in Theology in 1975 and receiving his ordination to the Christian ministry.

During the summer of 1980, Jerry and his wife felt the Lord calling them to the Seattle area to pastor Crossroads Baptist Church, whose membership at the time totaled 150 people. Jerry quickly built a reputation in the area with his strong Biblical teaching and expositional style of preaching. He worked to strengthen the church community and his own education over the next several years. He earned his doctorate in Ministries from the California Graduate School of Theology in 1987. With church membership growing steadily, the full-time staff grew to meet the demands of a Christ-thirsty community. The music department, children's departments, junior high, high school and college departments as well as the missions department and adult ministries, stepped up to the plate to meet the thriving community's needs. The church, which changed it's name to Crossroads Bible Church in 2000, has become one of the largest and strongest churches on the Eastside. Jerry led the church in relocating to the the Eastgate district in December 2004.

Jerry and Jan Mitchell have been married for almost 40 years and live in Sammamish. Their oldest daughter, Kristi, a graduate of the University of Washington, is married to Chris and mom to two girls.
